Many these days must have thought: "how I would like to upload my article to The National Review of Sciences for Students, but I don't know how to do it." Don't worry, we know your pain. It's very common. That's why today we will teach you how to do it.
- Choose a topic you are passionate about: we all have activities where we feel time doesn't exist. The same happens with topics; there's always a particular topic one spends hours and hours learning about. Or maybe you just like it. Either way, we invite you to do the following exercise: take that topic, and think, "would I like what I know to be shared with many more people?" If your answer is "yes," then don't waste time. Check platforms like Google Scholar, and read articles that interest you. Nowadays, you can make them more narrative or even converse with them using new technologies. With that, you will have a solid and well-founded opinion. If you've already done that, then congratulations! you've just conducted research.
- Organize yourself: prepare the sections of your writing, so there is a guiding thread. The reader should be able to follow your ideas from beginning to end. We also suggest noting your sources, preparing the pages and citations you will use from the articles you read.
- Start writing!: don't hold it in any longer, let out what you have to say in your article. Enjoy writing it. You can do a first draft and then the final essay. However, if you consider that what you wrote is sufficient as it is, we are not ones to challenge your judgment. Remember that including a section where you explain your methodology will make you look very professional.
- Citations! (yes, you heard right): this is the most tedious part. You have to verify that your essay is well-referenced. Otherwise, you could be plagiarizing! To do this well, you will have to use APA style... just kidding! You don't need APA style. You will have to use Chicago style. It's much easier, because you save a comma. For example, what in APA goes like this: (Howden, 2023). In Chicago it goes like this: (Howden 2023). Super easy, right? Then, for the bibliography, you do need to consult the Chicago style manual, which we leave for you here. Although it's worth mentioning that there are automatic generators, both in Word and Drive. But always remember to insert the data correctly. Maybe this might sound a bit complicated... but at least it's not APA!
If you did this then you can say that you have finished the body of your article. Now just think of a good title, a conclusion that synthesizes what was said well, and an abstract. An abstract is a small summary, 150-300 words, where you briefly explain to the reader what topics your article will cover and what conclusions you reached. With this, you practically have everything ready. Just remember that your article should not be written by AI, but by your own hand.
And what do I do now? Do I keep it to myself? Nah, better get it indexed in Google Scholar. To do so, you just need to send your article to this form. You will immediately receive a confirmation email that we have received your essay. With that, we will send you your credentials to enter the portal on the page and see the status of your essay and your feedback. We will take a few weeks to respond, but we will notify you by email if the status of your essay is updated or if the feedback is already available. Your paper will be peer-reviewed, which means that people who, like you, are passionate about those topics, will verify the quality of your article. But don't worry about that, all essays deserve to be read, and we will make sure to be fair with yours.
If your article is accepted, congratulations! you will be able to see it indexed within a few weeks and ready to be cited by other people around the world. Thus, when you enter university, you will no longer be just another student, you will be a published author.
So now you know. Don't waste time and tell the world what only you know. We eagerly await you!
